Starting Over

Sometimes I get the urge to completely start over. Things aren’t going the way I want them to, so I pack it in and begin again. Often it turns out to be for the best. That is what I am hoping to do here.

In honor of this decision, I have written a little song. It’s not much; I wrote it in a few hours on GarageBand with a combination of loops and a self-composed piano line. I wanted to start off the new year by actually getting something done.

Happy New Year!

Lyrics:

It gets so easy

to be caught up in the past

worrying and dwelling

on whatever was said last

I’m getting tired

of hiding from myself

behind the things I say

to appease

everybody else

So I’m starting over

wiping the slate clean

not going to worry about

things I didn’t mean

I’m starting over

everything new

cause sometimes starting over

is all that you can do

I want to sound like myself

no matter what I’ve got to say

don’t want to let some facade

keep standing in my way

somehow I’ll figure out

just what I’ve got to do

to let me be myself

and not just what pleases you

So I’m starting over

wiping the slate clean

not going to worry about

things I didn’t mean

I’m starting over

everything new

cause sometimes starting over

is all that you can do

I’ve said too many things

I did not want to say

just for the sake of

making everything okay

I’m not going to let them rule me

ever again

I’m leaving those words behind me

it’s time for me to win

I’m starting over

wiping the slate clean

not going to worry about

things I didn’t mean

I’m starting over

everything new

cause sometimes starting over

is all that you can do

So I’m starting over

wiping the slate clean

not going to worry about

things I didn’t mean

I’m starting over

everything new

cause sometimes starting over

is all that you can do
